Join us as Dr. Kord Wissmann (VT CEE ’87 and ’95) explores this question and delves into the drivers, key ingredients, and fundamentals needed to run a successful Civil Engineering business. Learn Dr. Wissmann’s selected path to entrepreneurialism and the lessons learned along the way.
Schnabel Engineering is pleased to bring you Dr. Wissmann as our 10th lecturer of this series. Dr. Wissmann’s diverse experience spans company leadership, research and development, geotechnical engineering, and business development activities. Dr. Wissmann currently serves as President and Chief Engineer of Geopier Foundation Company, where he directs commercial activities, leads research into new ground improvement developments, and supervises the technical activities of Geopier’s worldwide network of geotechnical engineers.
In addition to his work at Geopier, he serves as president of the ASCE-Geo-Institute. Dr. Wissmann is the recipient of nine U.S. patents, and has published 37 papers. His research has made significant contributions in ground improvement industry. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned his B.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. He attended the University of California, Berkeley and received a M.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
